a day of traveling
// January 3rd, 2005 // Panama
ok, i met back up with michael, he showed up last night at around 930 while i was asleep in a hammock… we went and got some beer, well actually i got some Cuba Libre which is Rum and Coke in a can… we sat and tried to figure out what to do today… we decided to try to make it up to Golfito, Costa Rica which is on the bay by the Peninsula de Osa… One of the last pieces of costal rain forests left in costa rica… tonight should be a normal town, with electricity and phone and perhaps internet… though not for sure… once we cross the bay though, we’ll be lucky to find a place with electricity at night… should be interesting.
there is an orchid farm i hope to get to take some pictures… also some very nice beaches… i’m definately ready to get back to a beach! my calfs are killing me still from that hike… i’m a wimp!
it should be around 5 hours worth of buses to get to where we are going… we are leaving shortly. 8 more days or so until matt comes down, and who knows when paul is coming… he is having some sort of troubles with his plane ticket… i told him he’ll just have to meet up with me at the beach somewhere…
matt and ryan have a house rented for two weeks… depending on what they want to do, i’ll be staying with them… i think that if they dont want to travel and just spend the whole time in Nosara, Costa Rica, i will probably head up to Guatamala… we’ll see though… Guatamala is definatley coming soon, i want to learn more spanish bad… also, while i am up there, i hope to be able to get over to honduras to learn to scuba… we’ll see though, my mom is coming down the end of february so i hvae to be back to costa rica by then… but i guess i can always go back after she’s gone…
well there is a line for the internet so i should get going…

So an update on the rental in Nosara - the owners are going to be renting it out for the first two weeks of January to rich tourists. So we’ll have it after the 13th or 14th or whatever. This is a good thing though, it means that it will be worth their while to rent to us at low cost for the rest of the month since they’ll be making $$ the first half…
…and, in other news… MAX’S TAVERN RE-OPENS IN EUGENE …
Now with fresh paint and a straight pool cues, Max’s opened its doors to the public on New Year’s Eve this last year. We’re all happy to have her back.

This one didn’t show up yesterday so I’m reposting, i apologize if this is a duplicate post.
Hey Ahren! So Ryan just called me and said he was looking at the Hostel Pagnea in San Jose. He said it’s $9/night/person and they offer a shuttle from the airport for $12 (which would be 3 each if we all got there together). It is at Avenida 11 y Calle 3…Check it out at http://www.pangea.hostel.com/ Let me know what you think, let me know what the rates are for Hostel Backpacker’s if you know that so we can decide where to go. You can reserve online for the pangea place, looks like they have one 4-bed “mixed” dorm room available for the 10th
Max’s Tavern is a small beer bar in Eugene on 13th street (13th & Patterson). Nice little joint, lots of locals - this is the tavern in Matt Groening’s childhood that inspired Mo’s Tavern in The Simpsons’ town of Springfield (debateable I’m sure…tell me if you disagree)
