moving on…
// March 7th, 2005 // Costa Rica
ok… my mom came and went… the trip was very memorable… the last two weeks or so i have seen some of the most incredible things i´ve seen all trip, if not my whole life…. quite fun….
I obviously met back up with paul and we are heading over to the carribean coast… going to go listen to some reggae in puerto viejo again… just a day or two, then maybe head to cahuita to go hike around a park, and then take a boat up the rest of the coast to what sounds like a primitive viallage with sea turtles… who knows if they´re in season or not… i just want to get away from people though… after that, i come back to san jose for a day and then head down to corcovado… i am kind of runing out of things to do in costa rica without repeating things… which is good, i had hoped to see most of the country… going to take things real slow the next two or three weeks until my dreaded return…
I keep coming to the conclusion that returning to the states is going to be crazy… not necassarily in a good way either… i figure there will definately be culture shock… and just getting back into the whole flow is going to be really weird… i didnt think i woul dhave a problem with it when i left but thinking about it now, its going to be very strange… the pace of life is so different… we´ll see how it goes… it´s a mind trip thinking about it sometimes…
so the internet in puerto viejo is horribly slow… its the place where 8 computers share one dial up connection… so i dont think i will be using it very much… we´ll see… if it´s raining there´s not much else to do!
i´m outta here!

How is the pace of life different in the U.S.? Faster or Slower? What are some parts of life that are better out there than here as far as lifestyles go? Sounds like fun!!!!!!

it´s way slower here… time means nothing… they say a half hour, it could mean two hours, or 10 mins… everything is way laid back… no hustle bustle… it´s defanately nice to be away from the politics of the usa… and eugene was getting old as well… A LOT of hippie elitests.. or however you spell it… the fruit is better here… everything is cheaper, though costa rica is expensive compared to other countries down here….

it’s not slower in all ways. traffic is nuts. dangerous nuts. but also funny to the point of laughing out loud. roads too. there’s a hussle and bussle there too but it’s just to exist instead of get ahead. my opinion. fruit is better yes. and the beans and rice is very nice. not many vegetables. the babidas, mmmmmm. eugene is georgeous. just in a different way and you know there has to be a place for us old hippies!!!! everything has it’s plusses and minusses. just have to look.

I agree…Eugene is beautiful…..and you have to deal with shitty people everywhere you live. The west coast is where it’s at. It’s beautiful here. Just need to learn to side step the elite and not let it get to you like it obviously has. Besides…your girlfriend lives here, silly.

i got to paw through the souvenirs and kept seeing the phrase “pure life” or “live pure” or something… I’m sure when you get back here you’ll really see all the useless shit everyone thinks they can’t live without. I’d be dreading it too!
